The next Texas Rally for Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 in Austin. Make plans to attend!

 

Here are photos and audio recordings from the 2008 event held on January 26 at the Capitol in Austin to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. (See the slide show below!)

 

A large crowd of people, estimated at 2,000-3,000, attended from at least 105 Texas cities and towns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The African American Mass Choir from Houston provided inspirational music. Listen.

 

 

 

 

 

Becky Cook, director of the Gabriel Project Life Center in Austin, served as the Emcee. Listen.

 

 

Most Reverend Gregory Aymond, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Austin, gave the invocation. Listen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Texas State Representative Nathan Macias (Dist. 73) welcomed the crowd to the Capitol. Listen.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Alveda King, of King for America and Priests for Life, gave the keynote address. Dr. King is the niece of the slain civil rights leader, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Listen.

 

 

 

Andrew Rivas, executive director of the Texas Catholic Conference, promoted the Petition Against Planned Parenthood. Listen.

 

 

 

 

 

Myra Myers and Alan Parker of Operation Outcry talked about the terrible effects of abortion on women and men. Listen.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pastor Joe Goodson of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church released 35 white doves, one for every year since Roe v. Wade, and gave the benediction. Listen.
